CEARAC FPM

The CEARAC Focal Points Meeting is a NOWPAP arrangement consisting of representatives of the NOWPAP members in order to promote smooth and effective implementation of special monitoring and assessment of the marine and coastal environment. The establishment of the CEARAC FPM was agreed at the Seventh NOWPAP Intergovernmental Meeting (Vladivostok, March 2002) to allow NOWPAP to evolve toward a RAC-based rather than an Activity-based structure.

The main objectives of the CEARAC Focal Points Meeting are:
  1. To exchange information to ensure practical implementation of special monitoring and assessment of the marine and coastal environment in the NOWPAP region.
  2. To promote, coordinate and harmonize regional cooperation in the Northwest Pacific region related to special monitoring and assessment of the marine and coastal environment such as monitoring and assessment of Harmful Algal Blooms (including red tides) and Remote Sensing of the marine and coastal environment.
