Coccoliths are dinoflagellates, single-celled marine plankton. In the solitary swimming state, the cells are ellipsoid, 30-40 micrometers (µm) long, 20-30 µm wide, and slightly flattened. Often the cells remain together after division and form groups. Cells are actively swimming.
