2019 年 3 月 22 日、ロシアのウラジオストクにおいて第 2 回 NOWPAP地域における富栄養化評価に関するCEARAC専門家会合を開催しました。「沿岸域の富栄養化」がSDGs14.1の評価指標の１つになったことを受けて、会合では、NOWPAP 地域での富栄養化評価を継続することの重要性が再確認されました。CEARAC は衛星クロロフィル a データを加工処理し、これを CEARAC のウェブサイト（環日本海海洋環境ウォッチ）で公開しており、これらの時系列データのレベルやトレンドをベースに、新しい富栄養化評価手法（NEAT）を開発しています。現在これを用いて、NOWPAP 地域で富栄養化の兆候が認められる海域の抽出を試みています。
会合ではこの評価手法の有用性が認められ、CEARAC に対し、利用するセンサー間の相互較正や現場データとの比較検証をした上で、NEAT の開発を継続することが推奨されました。
