CEARAC updated the Integrated Report (2005) by adding the latest information on occurrences in the member states. In addition, warning and action standards for each causative species in the member states were reported.

2008-2011

Case Study Reports on Harmful Algal Blooms(HABs) in the NOWPAP Region:
2011:
China[889KB] / Japan[1,183KB] / Korea[1,153KB] / Russia[642KB]
2009:China[318KB] / Japan[1,032KB] / Korea[971KB] / Russia[949KB]
2008:China[322KB] / Japan[1,037KB] / Korea[971KB] / Russia[940KB]
CEARAC has continued implementing case studies in selected sea areas in each NOWPAP member state to collect information on HABs, such as the number of occurrences, damage on fisheries and monitoring parameters.

Booklet of Countermeasures against Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs) in the NOWPAP Region [7,143KB]
In some member states, HAB occurred every year and damaged fishery activities. To reduce the damage, institutes and experts developed countermeasures against HAB. This booklet introduces information on countermeasures implemented in the NOWPAP member states.

Cochlodinium Pamphlets  [1,855KB]
Cochlodinium polykrikoides is one of the most concerned HAB species in the NOWPAP Region. In fact, it has caused the most serious damage to the fisheries in Japan and Korea in recent years. For example, in 1999 approximately US$ 7 million worth of fishery damage was recorded in Imari Bay, Kyushu, Japan. Even greater economic losses were recorded in Korea in 1995 and 2003, worth approximately US$ 19 million, respectively.
So, NOWPAP WG3 developed Cochlodinium Pamphlets in English and the four languages of the NOWPAP member states in order to provide basic information of this species for students, NGOs, and people who are interested in the marine environment.
2004-2005

Integrated Report on Harmful Algal Blooms for the NOWPAP Region[2,400KB]
In cooperation with NOWPAP WG3, CEARAC published the Integrated Report, overviewing HAB occurrences in the NOWPAP region based on the National Reports. The Integrated Report also suggests future activities to address HABs as a regional problem.

National Reports on Harmful Algal Blooms(HABs) in the NOWPAP Region:
China[746KB] / Japan[1,448KB] / Korea[2,063KB] / Russia[448KB]

Summaries of National Reports on Harmful Algal Blooms(HABs):
China[23KB] / Japan[85KB] / Korea[24KB] / Russia[49KB]

Under the lead of NOWPAP WG3, CEARAC developed the National Reports and the Summaries on the status of harmful algal blooms (HABs) in each NOWPAP member state.
